The Ides of March Soundtrack [2011]

The Ides of March is based loosely on the 2004 Democratic primary campaign of Howard Dean, the play focuses on dirty campaign tricks in Des Moines, Iowa, just weeks before the state’s Democratic caucuses.
The story takes place during the frantic last days before a heavily contested Ohio presidential primary, when an up-and-coming campaign press secretary (Ryan Gosling) finds himself involved in a political scandal that threatens to upend his candidate’s shot at the presidency.

The Tree of Life Soundtrack [2011]

The Tree of Life” which stars Brad Pitt, Sean Penn, Joanna Going, Dalip Singh, Fiona Shaw, Jessica Chastain, Lisa Marie Newmyer, and Crystal Mantecon. have appeared online.

From Terrence Malick, the acclaimed director of such classic films as Badlands, Days of Heaven and The Thin Red Line, The Tree of Life is the impressionistic story of a Midwestern family in the 1950′s.

The film follows the life journey of the eldest son, Jack, through the innocence of childhood to his disillusioned adult years as he tries to reconcile a complicated relationship with his father (Brad Pitt).

Jack (played as an adult by Sean Penn) finds himself a lost soul in the modern world, seeking answers to the origins and meaning of life while questioning the existence of faith.
Through Malick’s signature imagery, we see how both brute nature and spiritual grace shape not only our lives as individuals and families, but all life.

So, Brad Pitt takes the role of the father, while Jessica Chastain is Jack’s mother. The adult version of Jack is portrayed by Sean Penn.

The Tree of Life hit limited theaters in the U.S. on May 27, 2011 and its world premiere was on May 18th, at the Cannes Film Festival.

Alexandre Desplat’s soundtrack is an admirable complement to the The Tree of Life’s subject matter, and is an eclectic compilation of mysteriously memorable music.

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1 Score [2010]

The score for Deathly Hallows: Part 1 is composed by Golden Globe award winning and Academy Award nominated film composer, Alexandre Desplat. Desplat follows John Williams, Patrick Doyle and Nicholas Hooper in the Harry Potter series. Williams composed the first three films, Doyle scored the fourth film, while Hooper produced the soundtracks for the fifth and sixth films. Desplat stated that he will compose until September, with the soundtrack being released on 16th November 2010, three days before the film's release date. A 4-disc Limited Edition Collector's Box Set will also be released on December 21, 2010.

In an interview, Desplat stated, "We will start this Summer, it will take me all Summer. I will not have many holidays, but again it's for good reason - for the soundtrack. I would take every opportunity to use the fabulous theme composed by John Williams. I'd say it has not sufficiently been used in the latest movies, so if I have the opportunity and if the footage allows me, I'm going to arrange it...I shall make it with great honour and pleasure."

The film's orchestration started on 14 August 2010 with Conrad Pope (the orchestrator on the first three Potter films) collaborating with Desplat. Pope commented that the music is "exciting and vigorous" and "Those who love melodies, harmonies and emotions in their film scores should be pleased. Reminds one of the old days."

On October 29, 2010, the entire soundtrack was leaked. It appears that John Williams' original "Hedwig's Theme" is only used in only small parts of the soundtrack, however many cues from previous films are used.

Deathly Hallows is the first half of the last Harry Potter adventure, starring Daniel Radcliffe
, Rupert Grint, Emma Watson, Helena Bonham Carter, Alan Rickman and Ralph Fiennes, and again directed by British filmmaker David Yates ( Order of the Phoenix and Half-Blood Prince). The script was also written again by Steve Kloves, of Sorcerer’s Stone, Chamber of Secrets, Prisoner of Azkaban, Goblet of Fire, and also Half-Blood Prince.

The Special Relationship Soundtrack [2010]

http://img217.imageshack.us/img217/4787/23710.jpg

The Special Relationship stars Michael Sheen as Tony Blair and Dennis Quaid as Bill Clinton in this release, the third in screenwriter Peter Morgan’s trilogy on Tony Blair, following The Deal, which aired on HBO, and the Academy Award-nominated film The Queen.
In 1993, ambitious British politician Tony Blair arrives in Washington D.C. to meet with advisors who helped bring Bill Clinton into office. At his meeting, Blair is given war room wisdom: “Listen to what the people are saying. It’s easier to change what the party stands for than what the people want.” Three years later, Blair puts the advice to work, declaring “Je suis European” at a speech in Paris, committing himself to his fellow Continentals.

When both Blair and Clinton are swept into office, Clinton shares with Blair his excitement over their “unique opportunity” to advance their center-left ideas and bring genuine change over the next few years. As the two men continue their terms in office, world and personal events determine which man has the upper hand in the long-standing alliance. The conflict in Northern Ireland, the Monica Lewinsky scandal, and differing strategies about the crisis in Kosovo all play a part in shifting their positions on the world stage, and their opinions of each other. And when the 2000 election brings new leadership into the White House, it is up to Blair to decide how the relationship will carry on.
Alexandre Desplat adds another extraordinary score to his long list of recent achievements (The Curious Case Of Benjamin Button, The Queen, Twilight: New Moon).

Tamara Drewe Soundtrack [2010]

http://img177.imageshack.us/img177/7136/ma218186855.jpg

Tamara Drewe the project started life as a Guardian cartoon inspired by Hardy’s ‘Far From the Madding Crowd’, and has now blossomed into a fully-fledged feature film directed by Stephen Frears (The Queen, High Fidelity), with the score recorded and mixed at Abbey Road Studios.

http://media.daemonsmovies.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/05/gemma-arterton-tamara-drewe-movie-01-550x365.jpg

The composer, Alexandre Desplat, explained the thinking behind the score: “I let the audience appreciate the moments of emotion. I think that’s what Stephen likes, that I can make space. Leave space for the acting moments and the strong emotional moments to be by themselves, without pushing the music.”

http://gabtor.files.wordpress.com/2010/08/tamara_drewe_1.jpg

The score was recorded by the LSO in Abbey Road’s Studio 1 and mixed in the Penthouse. Andrew Dudman worked as engineer for both the recording and mixing and was excited to team up with the duo once more, having previously worked on The Queen and Cheri: “We were delighted to welcome back Frears and Desplat for their third collaboration at Abbey Road.”
