Game of Thrones Soundtrack [2011]

Based on the bestselling fantasy book series A Song of Ice and Fire by George R.R. Martin – often referred to as “the American Tolkien” – HBO is betting that fans of The Lord of the Rings will come to this for a sprawling, interwoven tale of feuding families, swords, sex, carnage, beasts, frayed loyalties, deception, intrigue and the pursuit of power.

As well they should. Game of Thrones has all the elements (many described above) that lure viewers to shows like The Sopranos, et al. That it’s a fantasy series shouldn’t scare anyone away, because – like Lord of the Rings – there’s a real allure to costume-dramas that pair dense mythology with all of the crowd-pleasing elements of war, honor, pride, lust, power and, yes, even humor. Thrones has all of those in spades and supports them with exceptional storytelling, strong writing, superb acting and some stunning visual effects.

Game Thrones composed by composer Ramin Jawadi (Iron Man, Blade 3: Trinity) released under the label Varese Sarabande on June 28. In total, the album will be 29 tracks and ambitious compositions. Of course, to compare this album with "The Lord of the Rings" Howard Shore's hard, but for the glory Djawadi tried to create an atmospheric fantasy.

Bridesmaids Soundtrack [2011]

Bridesmaids is the newest film from producer Judd Apatow and director Paul Feig. Between these two hit makers they have a very successful heritage of successful television and box office block busters such as: Freaks & Geeks, 40 Year Old Virgin, Knocked Up, Pineapple Express, Anchor Man, Superbad, Get Him to the Greek, Forgetting Sara Marshall and Talladega Nights. All of Judd’s films have a rich use of music to enlighten the story and the humor.

The film has Kristen Wiig starring alongside Maya Rudolph, Rose Byrne, Melissa McCarthy, Wendi McLendon-Covey, Ellie Kempe, Chris O’Dowd, Jon Hamm, Matt Lucas and Jill Clayburgh.

Annie (Kristen Wiig), is a maid of honor whose life unravels as she leads her best friend, Lillian (Maya Rudolph), and a group of colorful bridesmaids (Rose Byrne, Melissa McCarthy, Wendi McLendon-Covey and Ellie Kemper) on a wild ride down the road to matrimony. Annie’s life is a mess. But when she finds out her lifetime best friend is engaged, she simply must serve as Lillian’s maid of honor. Though lovelorn and broke, Annie bluffs her way through the expensive and bizarre rituals. With one chance to get it perfect, she’ll show Lillian and her bridesmaids just how far you’ll go for someone you love.

Bad Girls Soundtrack [1994-2011]

Presenting the remastered and expanded release of renowned composer Jerry Goldsmith’s (STAGECOACH, PATTON, THE OMEN, GREMLINS, FIRST KNIGHT) rousing original score to the 1994 Twentieth Century Fox girl-power western BAD GIRLS, starring Madeleine Stowe, Mary Stuart Masterson, Andie MacDowell and Drew Barrymore, and directed by Jonathan Kaplan. Goldsmith’s full-throated western score to this lively female-driven adventure was his last in the genre and a fine example of his expertise within that realm. Snow Flower and the Secret Fan Soundtrack [2011]

Director Wayne Wang is back with a new film “Snow Flower and The Secret Fan”. (This film will no doubt draw comparisons to The Joy Luck Club from the 90’s.) Inspired by the bestselling novel SNOW FLOWER AND THE SECRET FAN by Lisa See, the film is a timeless portrait of female friendship. The cast includes Bingbing Li, Gianna Jun (Jun Ji-hyun), Vivian Wu, Archie Kao, and Hugh Jackman. Here’s a synopsis of the movie adaptation of the book:

In 19th-century China, seven-year-old girls Snow Flower and Lily are matched as laotong – or “old sames” – bound together for eternity. Isolated by their families, they furtively communicate by taking turns writing in a secret language, nu shu, between the folds of a white silk fan.




In a parallel story in present day Shanghai, the laotong’s descendants, Nina and Sophia, struggle to maintain the intimacy of their own childhood friendship in the face of demanding careers, complicated love lives, and a relentlessly evolving Shanghai. Drawing on the lessons of the past, the two modern women must understand the story of their ancestral connection, hidden from them in the folds of the antique white silk fan, or risk losing one another forever. What unfolds are two stories, generations apart, but everlasting in their universal notion of love, hope and friendship.

The film is slated to hit theaters this summer on July 15, 2011.




British composer, Rachel Portman, best known for her film work (The Joy Luck Club, The Cider House Rules, Chocolat), was the first female composer to win an Oscar® in the category of Best Original Score (Emma) in 1996. She has previously worked with acclaimed directors such as Roman Polanski (Oliver Twist), Norman Jewison (Only You), Jonathan Demme (Beloved, Truth About Charlie, Manchurian Candidate), Robert Redford (Legend Of Bagger Vance), Mike Leigh (Life Is Sweet) as well as countless others. In 2010, she was honored at the BMI Film & TV Awards with the Richard Kirk Award, which is bestowed on composers who have made significant contributions to the realm of film and television music, and she was the first woman composer to receive the honor.

I can't stop listen to this soundtrack. The sound of uncreasing love, memories and retention notes could touch your heart. You can not miss this soundtrack.

La Notte Soundtrack [1961-2011]

Initially released in a 1960 EP with only 4 cues, the original score remained unavailable until 1996 when the Japanese label SCL issued a limited album that quickly sold out and became part of every fans' wish-list. The Japanese CD features 10 original tracks plus a 20-minutes suite comprising several alternates, outtakes as well as some previously unreleased tracks, all of which created some confusion.

For this new release, remastered and restored by Claudio Fuiano, we have been fortunate enough to be granted access to the original recording sessions tapes vaulted in Cinevox files in Rome, with a warm monaural sound. The outcome is a musical legacy of one of the most important movies in his most complete presentation to date.

Cherry 2000 / The House of God [1984-1987-2011]

Intrada presents the return of Basil Poledouris' score to Cherry 2000 along with the premiere release of the same composer's score to The House of God. Recorded by the Hungarian State Symphony Orchestra and augmented with shimmering electronics, Cherry 2000 provided Poledouris with a sense of creative freedom that infused his music with an offbeat, yet thrilling old school retro-western score. Poledouris’ theme for Cherry encapsulates her dream-like, tender and romantic sense, for unlike most “robot” scores, there’s nothing remotely threatening in Cherry’s hypnotically beautiful melody. The combined elements of romance, action, and heroics makes for a colorful and infectious musical program. This release features the same contents as the previous Prometheus release, with some slight alterations in sequencing.

Set in the year 2017, Cherry 2000 finds a society where recycling is king and production virtually nil. Robots are prized commodities, especially for mild-mannered Anaheim businessman Sam Treadwell (David Andrews), whose life is consumed by his total love for a girlfriend too perfect to be real. After Cherry (supermodel Pamela Gidley) blows her fuse during a bubbly lovemaking session, Sam finds that his only hope to resurrect her is to venture into the outlaw-filled desert wasteland, where another Cherry awaits her memory chip. He hires an equally beautiful, if far less lady-like “tracker” named E. Johnson (Melanie Griffith) for the task, and the duo engages in Road Warrior-inspired car chases, gunfights and much humorous bickering on their way to the robotfilled ruins of Las Vegas.



For The House of God, Poledouris scored this "dramedy" with an unconventional musical approach that would prove vital in uniting the film's volatile emotional tones, refining them by way of a classical score that could comment on the film’s satire while also playing its segues into graphically powerful medical drama. Baroque music had been a favorite way of playing to the pompousness of academia (as well as its rarefied origins), and that's no exception here. He scored his music for an economical but full-bodied chamber orchestra of strings (violin, viola, cello, bass), flute, alto flute, oboe, English horn, clarinet, bassoon, two French horns, two piccolo trumpets (doubling standard B-flat trumpets when called for), tuba, harpsichord, plus organ and light percussion. The results are distinct and transparent.

The House of God details the eventful year that a group of interns spend battling their own nerves and the money-grubbing callousness of the hospital hierarchy.

This release is limited to 1500 units.
