The American Trailer 2

The second trailer for The American has hit the Internet. Academy Award winner George Clooney stars in the title role of this suspense thriller, filmed on location in Italy.

Jack ( Clooney) is an artful assassin with a lengthy track record, constantly on the move and always watching his back. When an assignment goes wrong and a lover ends up dead, he vows that the next job will be his last. This final obligation takes him to a picturesque town nestled amongst lush Italian hills, its historical piazzas bursting with life. But to Jack, every location is a trap and every person a potential threat. Still, he surprises himself, enjoying confessional conversations over Armagnac with an insightful priest and slipping into an affair with a local beauty. But by letting his guard down, Jack may be tempting fate. A dangerous shadow-dweller shows every sign of closing in, and the mysterious woman who has hired him may not be all that she seems. As an increasingly wary Jack contemplates life, love and death in Italy, the film escalates into a climactic showdown through the cobbled maze of age-old alleyways. This sexy, suspenseful and intricate story blends intrigue and passionate romance within a searing morality tale to finally reveal the heart of this deeply private man.

The film also stars Violante Placido, Thekla Reuten, Paolo Bonacelli and Bruce Altman. The script was written by Rowan Joffe (Last Resort, 28 Weeks Later) and is based on Martin Booth’s novel A Very Private Gentleman.

The American is directed by directed by Anton Corbijn (Control) and is scheduled to hit theaters on September 1st, 2010.

Outland Soundtrack [1981-2010]

Outland Soundtrack [1981-2010]

This 2CD set features the complete score as heard in the film, the 1981 LP configuration released by Warner Bros. Records, and never-before-heard alternates and outtakes.

Outland was written and directed by Peter Hyams, whose 1978 Capricorn One had featured a sensational score by Goldsmith. Sean Connery stars as O’Niel, a Federal marshal whose investigation of suspicious deaths throws him into conflict with the mine’s corporate administrator (Peter Boyle). Something of a cross between Alien (minus the monster) and High Noon (transplanting the conflict to outer space), the stylish film is one of Hyams’s best.

Goldsmith had made a mark on Alien in 1979—a film that Outland resembles in its hardware and atmosphere—and applied many of the same suspenseful textures to Outland. The score oozes menace and mood, evoking not only the dangerous environment of the space station, but the suspense-thriller human relationships (in which nobody is up to any good). Goldsmith’s musical modernism is perfectly tailored for the action scenes, especially a bravura chase through the station (“Hot Water”) which is treated with a Stravinsky-like pulse.

The Outland soundtrack has long been available in a 40-minute album program, but that sequence (recreated for disc 2 of this release) includes alternate takes—and omits many notable cues. Disc 1 of this album features the complete score as heard in (or intended for, in the case of unused cues) the finished film, including such Goldsmith cues as the film’s “Main Title” and action moments in “Stiffed” and “The Bags.”

Disc 1 also interpolates the work of two other composers, who stepped in when Hyams requested changes but Goldsmith was unavailable: Morton Stevens, who adapted Goldsmith’s thematic material for the film’s climactic fight on the exterior of the station (“The Last Battle [Broken Hose]”), and Michael Boddicker, who wrote and recorded the film’s rec room source music. Disc 1 also features a bonus section including Goldsmith’s original versions of these sequences as well as other alternates.

Goldsmith’s score has been newly restored by Mike Matessino from the three-track stereo film mixes, with Boddicker personally remixing his tracks. The entire 2CD set has been mastered by Bruce Botnick, Jerry Goldsmith’s longtime recording engineer.

Limited edition of 5000 copies

Packaging & Liner Notes
Standard double jewel case. The deluxe 24-page booklet features liner notes by Jeff Bond and Lukas Kendall including new interview comments by Hyams and an essay from Boddicker.

The Chronicles of Narnia 3: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader first trailer

http://www.geekshow.us/wp/wp-content/uploads/2009/01/narnia.jpg

The first trailer for The Chronicles of Narnia 3: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader, which will appear in front of theatrical showings of Toy Story 3 on June 18th, already hit the net.

The film once again follows Edmund and Lucy Pevensie, joined by their cousin Eustace Scrubb as they find themselves swallowed into a painting and on to a fantastic Narnian ship headed for the very edges of the world. Joining forces once again with Prince Caspian and the warrior mouse Reepicheep, they are whisked away on a mysterious mission to the Lone Islands, and beyond. On this bewitching voyage that will test their hearts and spirits, the trio will face magical Dufflepuds, sinister slave traders, roaring dragons and enchanted merfolk. Only an entirely uncharted journey to Aslan’s Country – a voyage of destiny and transformation for each of those aboard the Dawn Treader – can save Narnia, and all the astonishing creatures in it, from an unfathomable fate.

The film, which has found itself a new home at 20 Century Fox since Walt Disney dropped the option, is being directed by Michael Apted (Thunderheart, The World Is Not Enough, Amazing Grace) and stars Georgie Henley, Skandar Keynes, Ben Barnes, Will Poulter, Gary Sweet, Bruce Spence, Arthur Angel, Shane Rangi and Liam Neeson.

The Chronicles of Narnia 3 hits 3D and 2D theaters on December 10th, 2010.

David Arnold talked about his tasks on this film back from 2008 and up till now we hope the project going fine. Arnold has scored five consecutive James Bond movies starting with 1999’s The World Is Not Enough; won a ‘Best Instrumental Composition Written For A Motion Picture’ Grammy for Independence Day; collaborated with the likes of Kaiser Chiefs, Massive Attack, Chris Cornell, Shirley Manson, Pulp and Bjork; and is currently working on 2010’s The Chronicles Of Narnia: The Voyage Of The Dawn Treader.

Nike Write the Future Ad

You can’t fault this full length Nike ad, it really hits all the right notes. As always its littered with a who’s who of footballing talent but also feels slick, vibrant and cinematic, and I say this all even though a free pair of boots are not on the way to me in the post.

Wayne Rooney shows he has acting chops and gets knighted and Cristiano Ronaldo plays a narcissistic who dreams of statues of himself lining the streets of Lisbon. Oh and the ad also includes scantily clad go go dancers, what more could you want. Did anyone spot the non-Football celebs? Kobe Bryant, Roger Federer and Gael Garcia Bernal are all there.
