Underworld Awakening Soundtrack and Score [2012]

On Underworld: Awakening.’ Kate Beckinsale, star of the first two Underworld films, returns in her lead role as the vampire warrioress Selene, who escapes imprisonment to find herself in a world where humans have discovered the existence of both Vampire and Lycan clans, and are conducting an all-out war to eradicate both immortal species. Alongside Kate Beckinsale, the likes of Stephen Rea, Michael Ealy, Theo James, India Eisley and Charles Dance co-star.
Directed by Måns Mårlind and Björn Stein. The film is produced by Tom Rosenberg, Gary Lucchesi, Len Wiseman, and Richard Wright. Len Wiseman wrote the initial story for ‘Underworld: Awakening,’ the fourth installment in the Underworld franchise, which is based on characters created by Kevin Grevioux and Wiseman. The screenplay was written by John Hlavin, J. Michael Straczyinski, Allison Burnett and Wiseman. ’Underworld: Amakening’ is set for release January 20th, 2012.
After being held in a coma-like state for fifteen years, vampire Selena (Kate Beckinsale) learns that she has a fourteen-year-old vampire/Lycan hybrid daughter, Nissa, and when she finds her they must stop BioCom from creating super Lycans that will kill them all. The latest chapter in the Underworld saga marks the return of Kate Beckinsale in the title role of Selena and is the first of the series to be filmed in 3D and released in IMAX.
As we expected the soundtrack of this film full of kinds of rock and electric rhythms which came from Evanescene, Linkin Park, The Cure, & Son and so many more. Score composed by Paul Haslinger. You can find in track list below.

  2. FLAC update for OST

  3. Awakening goes by in a scant 88 minutes and introduces a plot wrinkle that will definitely impact the rest of the series (if there is a rest of the series), however it feels like it could have been condensed into the opening of a longer, more plot-heavy movie. Trying to avoid spoilage, but this series really suffers without a romance central to the plot. The movie starts with Selene and Michael trying to escape from humans who are awake to their presence and determined to eradicate vampires and werewolves. Then it jumps twelve years into the future, where Selene has to catch up to current events before events catch up to her in the form of the scientists who have apparently been studying her while she was in some kind of cryo-sleep. India Eisley joins the cast as another test subject whose identity will probably not surprise anyone in the audience. Stephen Rea also stars as the head scientist, and his true agenda was actually a welcome surprise. Michael Ealy gets far too little screen time as a human detective with a story of his own, and Theo James brings some enjoyable eye candy but no romantic tension. Sandrine Holt is also very good in the few scenes she gets, and if you're familiar with Kris Holden-Reid's work you'll get a kick out of him here. There are some dysfunctional family subplots, but they aren't developed as thoroughly here as in previous outings. The cast is great, the twists are pretty good, and the action sequences are better than ever, but there is just too little plot developed in too short a time, and without the doomed romance that has up til now been central to these movies, there is a lot of pathos missing. Still worth the watch if you're a completist.
