Moneyball Soundtrack [2011]

Bennett Miller’s “Moneyball,” based on the best-selling book with a screenplay by Steve Zaillian and Aaron Sorkin and starring Brad Pitt and Philip Seymour Hoffman.

In Moneyball, out Sept. 23, general manager Billy Beane, played by Brad Pitt, attempts to pull the cash-strapped Oakland A’s out of mediocrity with a contrarian new philosophy on scoring talent. Clearly, that alone won’t draw in folks who don’t yet know what whip stands for, so Aaron Sorkin’s script delves deeper into Beane’s homelife and his relationship with his awkward baseball-geek assistant, the blandly-named Peter Brand (Jonah Hill) instead of the real-life Paul DePodesta.

Additional cast include Robin Wright Penn, Philip Seymour Hoffman, Kathryn Morris, Rick Yudt and Stephen Bishop.

Machine Gun Preacher Soundtrack [2011]

In this inspirational true story, Machine Gun Preacher is about Sam Childers, a former drug-dealing criminal who undergoes an astonishing transformation and finds an unexpected calling as the savior of hundreds of kidnapped and orphaned children. Gerard Butler (300) delivers a searing performance as Childers, the impassioned founder of the Angels of East Africa rescue organization in Golden Globe-nominated director Marc Forster’s (Monster’s Ball, Finding Neverland) moving story of violence and redemption.

When ex-biker-gang member Sam Childers (Butler) makes the life-changing decision to go to East Africa to help repair homes destroyed by civil war, he is outraged by the unspeakable horrors faced by the region’s vulnerable populace, especially the children. Ignoring the warnings of more experienced aide workers, Sam breaks ground for an orphanage where it’s most needed—in the middle of territory controlled by the brutal Lord’s Resistance Army (LRA), a renegade militia that forces youngsters to become soldiers before they even reach their teens.

But for Sam, it is not enough to shelter the LRA’s intended victims. Determined to save as many as possible, he leads armed missions deep into enemy territory to retrieve kidnapped children, restoring peace to their lives—and eventually his own. The explosive, real-life tale of a man who has rescued over a thousand orphans from starvation, disease and enslavement, Machine Gun Preacher also stars Michelle Monaghan (Due Date), Kathy Baker (Cold Mountain), Madeline Carroll (Mr. Popper’s Penguins), Academy Award® nominated Michael Shannon (Revolutionary Road) and Souleyman Sy Savane (“Damages”).
Machine Gun Preacher will release in Los Angeles and New York on September 23, 2011. The film will expand markets in the weeks to follow. Lionsgate will continue to oversee international distribution on the film, working in partnership with Relativity.

Taylor Lautner stars as a young man unwittingly thrust into a deadly world of covert espionage in Lionsgate’s action-thriller, ABDUCTION, directed by John Singleton.
For as long as he can remember, Nathan Harper (Taylor Lautner) has had the uneasy feeling that he’s living someone else’s life. When he stumbles upon an image of himself as a little boy on a missing persons website, all of Nathan’s darkest fears come true: he realizes his parents are not his own and his life is a lie, carefully fabricated to hide something more mysterious and dangerous than he could have ever imagined.
Just as he begins to piece together his true identity, Nathan is targeted by a team of trained killers, forcing him on the run with the only person he can trust, his neighbour, Karen (Lily Collins). Every second counts as Nathan and Karen race to evade an army of assassins and federal operatives. But as his opponents close in, Nathan realizes that the only way he’ll survive – and solve the mystery of his elusive biological father – is to stop running and take matters into his own hands.

Young Guns II Soundtrack [1990-2011]

For the 1990 sequel to the surprise hit Young Guns, Alan Silvestri was brought on board to provide a strong, masculine score for a striking band of outlaws led by Billy the Kid. Silvestri had scored another western of sorts that year with the final installment of the Back to the Future trilogy. But Young Guns II would mark Silvestri’s first work on a “real” western, and it offered the composer an opportunity to create not only rousing action but also music of surprising dramatic weight and power—truly one of the composer’s finest works. Part of the challenge on both Young Guns movies was to embrace the sound of a traditional western score while echoing the “rock star” aesthetic of Billy the Kid and his gang. With his background as a guitarist and drummer and over a decade of experience in both electronic and orchestral film scoring, Silvestri was uniquely suited to tackle this challenge. His main Young Guns theme has all the sweep and energy of a classic western melody, with a subtle south-of-the-border flavor and an almost pious ending cadence of four notes that idolizes Billy and the gang with pop rock fervor and eulogizes them with weary resolve.

Young Guns II contunues the story of Billy the Kid, Scurlock and Chavez, as well as new characters played by Christian Slater, Alan Ruck and young Balthazar Ghetty. Young Guns II focused on the famous, closing chapter of the Billy the Kid story: Billy’s relationship with Pat Garrett, a man who once rode with the Kid but who would eventually turn on the young outlaw and help authorities to track him down.

The Debt Soundtrack [2011]

The Debt starring Helen Mirren, Sam Worthington, Jessica Chastain and Tom Wilkinson.
Story: The espionage thriller begins in 1997, as shocking news reaches retired Mossad secret agents Rachel ( Helen Mirren) and Stephan (Tom Wilkinson) about their former colleague David (Ciarán Hinds of Focus’ “Miss Pettigrew Lives for a Day”). All three have been venerated for decades by their country because of the mission that they undertook back in 1966, when the trio (portrayed, respectively, by Jessica Chastain [soon to be seen in “The Tree of Life”], Marton Csokas [Universal’s upcoming “Dream House”], and Sam Worthington [“Avatar,” “Clash of the Titans”]) tracked down Nazi war criminal Vogel (Jesper Christensen of “Casino Royale” and “Quantum of Solace”) in East Berlin. At great risk, and at considerable personal cost, the team’s mission was accomplished – or was it? The suspense builds in and across two different time periods, with startling action and surprising revelations.

Straw Dogs Soundtrack [2011]

Straw Dog is a remake of Sam Peckinpah's 1971 movie of the same name. It tells the story of screenwriter David Summer (James Marsden) and his actress wife Amy (Kate Bosworth) returning to his hometown to sell the family house after her father's death. However things turn ugly after a rift developed between David and Amy due to her ex-boyfriend Charlie Venner (Alexander Skarsgard). It also caused a violent confrontation between David and Charlie. One day Amy was raped by Charlie and another man. At the same time David hit and killed a local girl while returning to home at night time.

Composer Larry Groupe , whose credits include works on movies such as "Nothing but the Truth", "Resurrecting The Champ" and the Oscar nominated "The Contender", gave the film it's much needed boost, considering the critics' review which had not been too kind. The music is a nice balance of country flavor and high-paced suspense thriller. Some pieces sound melancholic and at times, funereal but all in all the music brought out the characters' emotions pretty well.

Melancholia Soundtrack [2011]

Let us get it over with right away. The end of Lars von Trier's film Melancholia. Everybody dies. Not just the guests at the grand wedding held in the first part of the film at an ever-so-romantic castle surrounded by a golf course. And not just all life on Earth. For in the world evoked by the Danish film maker this time, we are absolutely alone in the universe. So what ends in our planet's cosmic embrace with the ten times bigger planet, Melancholia, is life as such and our recollection of it. No ending could be more final.

The Lord of the Rings Symphony [2011]

O Brother, Where Art Thou? Deluxe Edition Soundtrack [2000-2011]

O Brother, Where Art Thou? is one of the 10 top-selling soundtracks of all time (according to the RIAA), the No. 1-selling soundtrack and the 17th biggest album of the 21st Century, with more than nine million albums sold. On August 23, UMe celebrated this 10th Anniversary with an expanded two-CD set, O Brother, Where Art Thou? – Deluxe Edition, with legendary original producer T Bone Burnett personally involved in all aspects of this release.

The new tracks from artists like, Colin Linden, The Cox Family and John Hartford and are mixed in with the 19 tracks found on the original O Brother Where Art Thou soundtrack release. The interesting fact is that all of these “new” tracks, save one, were recorded at the time of the original recordings but for various unspecified reasons were not used in the original soundtrack release.

Days of Heaven Soundtrack [1978-2011]

 http://i26.lulzimg.com/e1ef73.jpg
While many fans are quick to point out the extremely beautiful visual characteristics of Terrence Malick's DAYS OF HEAVEN, few may not be as quick to put the spotlight on Ennio Morricone's effectively complementary score. This two disc set features the original 1978 original soundtrack album as well as the rest of the cues used in the picture. Because Morricone gave Malick permission to move his cues around throughout the picture at Malick's pleasure, little was known about what Morricone's original intentions truly were...until now. Here's the blurb from FSM's web site explaining exactly how the album is laid out and the significance of the ordering of the cues.
